Winnipeg River
Heritage Museum

The Winnipeg River played a vital role in the establishment of communities along this historically significant transportation route. To commemorate the area's rich heritage, the new Winnipeg River Heritage Museum was constructed along the river on land generously donated by one of the first Quebec homesteaders to settle in the region. The WRHM proudly showcases family heirlooms and shares captivating stories about the People of the River!

In 2014, a devastating fire ravaged the museum, resulting in the loss of many valuable artifacts. However, thanks to the preservation efforts, many objects have been salvaged and are on display. These artifacts, along with a compelling collection of photographs, exhibits, and interactive programs, offer visitors a unique opportunity to delve into the history of the region. The museum's theme revolves around the exploration of the area's past, allowing visitors to engage with the exhibits and gain a deeper understanding of the local heritage.
